Role: Automotive Validation Engineer

Job Summary
The Automotive Validation Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and reporting validation and verification activities for automotive electronic systems. The role requires strong hands-on experience with CAN, CANoe, and vehicle-level testing to ensure compliance with functional, performance, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will work closely with system, software, hardware, and calibration teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and execute validation test plans, test cases, and test procedures for automotive ECUs and vehicle systems.
- Perform CAN-based validation using tools such as Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, and CAPL .
- Validate communication protocols including CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and FlexRay (as applicable).
- Conduct bench-level, HIL, SIL, and vehicle-level testing in lab and proving ground environments.
- Analyze CAN logs, diagnostic messages, and network behavior to identify issues and root causes.
- Validate ECU functionality against system and software requirements.
- Execute diagnostics and flashing using UDS, OBD-II, and OEM-specific diagnostic tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve defects and support issue tracking and closure.
- Document test results, defects, and validation reports in requirements and defect management tools.
- Support regression testing and release validation activities.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards and OEM validation processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in automotive validation and testing.
- Strong hands-on experience with Vector CANoe and CANalyzer .
- Proficiency in CAN communication and network analysis .
- Experience with automotive diagnostics (UDS, DTCs, OBD-II).
- Familiarity with ECU testing, vehicle integration, and system-level validation.
- Experience in analyzing logs and debugging communication issues.
- Good understanding of automotive development lifecycle (V-model).
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAPL scripting for test automation.
- Exposure to HIL/SIL environments (dSPACE, Vector VT, NI, etc.).
- Knowledge of automotive standards such as ISO 26262, ASPICE , or OEM-specific processes.
- Experience in body, powertrain, ADAS, or infotainment systems.
- Prior experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
