Nebraska Emergency Medicine APP Opportunity

This full-time Emergency Department provider role offers a rare chance to practice at the top of your license in a well-supported, low-volume rural setting where providers are genuinely valued.
The Role
You will serve as the primary Emergency Department provider collaborating closely with on-call family physicians, APP colleagues, nursing staff, and hospital leadership.
• Primary ED coverage with physicians providing secondary call
• No hospitalist rounding responsibilities
• No required clinic duties (optional clinic work available)
• Physician support for OB, trauma, and codes
• Average ED volume of 7–8 patients per day
• Telemed in place
This position is ideal for providers who enjoy independence while knowing experienced physicians are always available when needed.
Schedule & Lifestyle
• Average of ten (10) 24-hour shifts per month (120 shifts annually)
• Shifts typically worked in blocks of 3–5 consecutive days
• Weekends and holidays included and evenly rotated
• Call response time is 30 minutes (not required to be in-house)
This schedule provides extended time off every month—ideal for travel, family time, or outdoor pursuits.
Hospital & Support
• Average daily census under five patients (swing and skilled)
• CRNA always on call
• Two general surgeons rotate in town coverage 2 weeks a month
• Ground and air transport available for higher-acuity cases
• EMR: Meditech
Compensation & Benefits
Physician Assistant Compensation
• $265,000 annual salary
• $2,400 per additional 24-hour shift beyond required shifts
(NP compensation adjusted accordingly)
Benefits
• 240 hours PTO annually (paid out if unused)
• 100% employee health insurance paid
• 70% employer-paid premiums for spouse/family
• Vision and dental coverage (70% employer paid)
• 401(k) with 3–5% employer match
• Relocation allowance up to $10,000
• $30,000 sign-on bonus with a three-year commitment
• $5,000 CME allowance plus licensure and dues
Experience Requirements
• Minimum of four (4) years of ED experience
• Comfortable working independently in a rural ED environment
• Nebraska license and DEA required
