A private Southern California estate in the Greater Santa Barbara Area is seeking an experienced and proactive Houseman to support daily operations and maintenance for a warm, family-oriented household.

Working closely with a hands-on Household Manager , the Houseman will ensure the property remains in pristine condition while assisting with light repairs, vendor coordination, and general upkeep.

This is an excellent opportunity for a polished, service-minded professional who enjoys both hands-on work and collaborative teamwork within a respectful, long-tenured household.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain exterior grounds, patios, walkways, and outdoor living spaces to five-star standards
• Perform light household maintenance and basic repairs as needed
• Assist with vendor coordination and oversee projects when the Household Manager is offsite
• Provide general household support, including setup, breakdown, and organization tasks
• Care for and exercise the family’s two energetic dogs, requiring an active, outdoors-oriented candidate
• Assist with vehicle care, cleaning, and light detailing as needed
• Travel occasionally with the principals and household team to support additional residences
• Uphold confidentiality and discretion at all times

Household Environment

• Primary residence located in the Greater Santa Barbara Area, with a secondary property out of state
• Friendly, down-to-earth household with long-term staff
• Team includes: Household Manager, senior Houseman, two Housekeepers, and four Landscapers
• Principals are warm and approachable, maintaining a professional yet personable atmosphere

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Houseman or in luxury residential or hospitality environments
• Skilled in light maintenance, property care, and vendor coordination
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to take direction from management
• Reliable, discreet, and dedicated to maintaining a high standard of service
• Comfortable with dogs and physically active (daily walks and outdoor work required)
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• Valid driver’s license and clean background required
• Candidates from Southern California open to relocation will be considered

Compensation & Benefits

• $50/hour DOE
• Full medical coverage for employee
