NYC Health + Hospitals/Correctional Health Services is one of the nation’s leading correctional health care systems in quality of and innovations to care, and access from pre-arraignment through compassionate release. Position Description:
Under the general supervision of the Tour Supervisor and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Tour Coordinator (TC) assists in the oversight and management within Central Operations and clinics. The TC participates in process monitoring and direct handling of department-specific requests. This may include handling telephonic and email requests, daily operational coordination tasks, interpersonal coordination, and conduct of daily, weekly, or periodic operational reports, including proper end-of-tour handoff and clinical staffing updates.
Detailed Tasks:
• Assists in planning daily operational objectives through consultation with the Tour Supervisor on duty, clinical staff, and other associated healthcare fields to coordinate joint patient and management objectives.
• Assists in planning development and may conduct training programs to maintain personnel proficiency, use of new equipment, and implement methods and procedures.
• Act as an intermediary between Central Operations and DOC to ensure patient production for health care services.
• Monitors patient production and conducts regular visits to clinic areas or patient holding areas to ensure proper patient flow and to flag unnecessary delays in patient’s movement to DOC.
• Performs data entry and retrieval of records, lists, and statistical information; reviews statistical reports for accuracy and initiates procedures to resolve deficiencies; compiles and enters data; makes calculations; and prepares charts, graphs, databases, summaries, and reports.
• May provide administrative supervision for a comprehensive health service program of professional and non-professional staff and related health care personnel.
Preferred Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Detail-oriented and strong organizational and follow-through to coordinate work plans, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
• High degree of professionalism, courtesy, strong work ethic, integrity, regard for confidentiality and ability to work with discretion on sensitive matters.
• Ability to adapt to new situations, collaborate with team members, and work under pressure with minimal supervision, when necessary.
• Knowledge of policies and programs utilized in the operation of a health care facility
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Engineering or Social Sciences, Health Care Specialization, Physical Sciences or related programs; and
A minimum of four years of progressive, responsible experience related to Health Care Program Planning, Research, Design, Operation, Evaluation and Analysis; or
2. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public or Hospital Administration, Health Care Specialization, Business Administration or related disciplines; and
A minimum of three years progressive, responsible experience directly related to health care program planning, research, design, operation, evaluation and analysis; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience; and,
4. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
