Job Purpose and Overview

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for routing and managing the day-to-day transportation operations for our distribution centers.

This is an onsite position at our Union City, CA.

Shift Schedule: Monday- Friday 6am– 4pm, with alternating Fridays from 10 am-8pm.

What You’ll Do as a Transportation Supervisor?

  • Responsible for hiring of all transportation team members including all proper documentation completed and processed.
  • Always ensure compliance of all driver DQF records
  • Responsible for monitoring and auditing all driver logbooks to be sure they are maintained as required by company policy and the DOT.
  • Ensure that all safety policies and requirements are being enforced and followed.
  • Understand and follow IFS standards.
  • Schedule and plan quarterly driver safety meetings
  • Ensure all required vehicle documentations are completed and current.
  • Ensure all vehicles are being maintained in safe operation condition by ensuring required documentation such as Daily Damage Report Sheet, and VCR are completed.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are maintained and clean.
  • Coordinates pickup and delivery schedules for truck drivers.
  • Coordinate schedules with Operations, Procurement, and Sales to best satisfy customer’s needs.
  • Coordinate LTL and FULL load deliveries with outside carriers when required. Make contacts with LTL carriers and have competitive price quotes available.
  • Investigate customers' complaints involving such matters as damaged items, driver performance, and delays in shipment, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Investigate and report all MV accidents involving drivers as required.
  • Follow all procedures stated in the program.
  • Direct the activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicles.
  • Responsible for adherence to company policy and procedures of daily activity to ensure all employee and DOT laws are followed.
  • Coordinate Transportation Department requests for vacation, days off, suggestions, or safety concerns.
  • Other duties or assignments as needed.

What Does It Take to be a Transportation Supervisor?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Two years of transportation management experience with a full understanding of FMCSA and DOT Regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in written and oral form.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Training and experience in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and SAP
  • Previously used routing and GPS Systems (RoadNet, GreenMile, GeoTab) preferred.
  • CDL A Preferred

  • Normal setting for this job is plant/office.
  • Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.

Compensation Range:

$65,380- $100,690
