Senior Project Manager

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Compensation: $170,000–$220,000 base

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to take the lead on large‑scale, technically sophisticated construction projects within the Mission‑Critical and Complex Infrastructure sector. In this role, you’ll drive full project delivery, from early planning through commissioning, across projects such as hyperscale data centers, high‑availability facilities, advanced manufacturing plants, life‑science complexes, and energy‑intensive industrial builds .

This is a strategic leadership position where you will shape the project’s direction, influence major decisions, and work closely with owners, design partners, trade contractors, and internal leadership teams. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to world‑class technical standards , while managing risk, driving accountability, and maintaining exceptional client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement

  • Develop and maintain bidders list; analyze CPS data and assess local market capabilities.
  • Create comprehensive bidding strategies for projects.
  • Manage distribution of bid documents, track bidders, and oversee solicitation process.
  • Organize and lead pre-bid meetings, handle bidder inquiries.
  • Develop work scopes and mentor team members in scope creation.
  • Prepare front-end bidding documents aligned with project and contract requirements.
  • Evaluate bids, conduct post-bid reviews, and draft subcontracts (including complex agreements such as professional services or design-assist).

Planning

  • Initiate and develop complex project schedules, including activity sequencing and logic.
  • Collaborate with superintendents to create site logistics plans.
  • Prepare multi-element cash flow and manpower projections at various project stages.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and identify scope gaps in estimates.
  • Oversee jobsite setup, including mobilization and staffing.

Field Operations

  • Establish and enforce jobsite safety plans; promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure timely completion of punch lists.
  • Support labour relations and union interactions.
  • Implement emergency procedures and train staff accordingly.
  • Coordinate owner equipment and facilitate BIM or MEP overhead coordination processes.

Cost Management

  • Develop and manage general conditions budget; update monthly projections.
  • Define non-reimbursables per contract and minimize usage.
  • Set up trade budgets and maintain logs in Prolong.
  • Monitor project costs, change management processes, and profitability.
  • Oversee cost item creation and issuance to contractors; assist with owner agreement changes.
  • Support cash flow management and timely payments.

Management

  • Lead project team meetings and mentor jobsite staff.
  • Ensure timely processing of RFIs and submittals.
  • Implement office procedures for documentation, closeout, and archiving.
  • Manage agency approvals and serve as liaison with code officials.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including RFP responses and presentations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with architects, engineers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in GC/CM construction management.
